Dennis W. Jones, MDiv ’90, serves as senior pastor of the Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church of Basking Ridge, New Jersey. A native of Basking Ridge, Jones attended Boston College, graduated from the University of Delaware, and returned to his hometown to become a police officer. Jones was often referred to as “Father” by his fellow officers because of the philosophy with which he approached his job. He soon discovered God was calling him to a different life and ministry, one of being a pastor. Jones attended Princeton Theological Seminary, where he received a Master of Divinity in 1990, and is profoundly grateful for the friendships, faith formation, and preparation for ministry he experienced there. In addition to serving at Basking Ridge, Jones served at the Sardis Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, North Carolina (alongside his mentor and friend Tom Kort), and the Alexandria First Presbyterian Church in Milford, New Jersey. Jones is married to Emily, who works as an elementary school librarian. They are blessed with a teenage daughter, Teresa, and two energetic and occasionally well-behaved dogs. He finds rest and renewal in spending time with his family, early morning walks, and riding his motorcycle.
