Recap: Spring Choral Concert

Watch In the Garden, a Concert of Readings and Anthems on the Octave of Easter

On the final day of the Easter Octave, Sunday, April 11, Princeton Theological Seminary's spring choral concert premiered on the Seminary's YouTube channel. In the Garden, a Concert of Readings and Anthems on the Octave of Easter featured members of the Chapel Choir and scripture readings offered by Princeton Seminary alumni from around the world.

With readings from both the gospel and revelation of St. John, the choir sang a story of resurrection joy, Spirit hope, and visions of a new heaven and earth. A garden theme was woven through this liturgical concert from Eden, to the empty tomb, culminating at the New Jerusalem with its river and tree of life. Choral works included Lloyd Larsen's In the Garden, John Rutter's Christ the Lord Is Risen Again, Thomas Tallis' If Ye Love Me, and Raymond Wise's Lord, Send Your Spirit.

Alumni representing many countries, cultures, and Christian traditions participated in the program, including:

  • Luiz Nascimento, Brazil
  • Christina Ong, Malaysia
  • Farhana Nazir, Pakistan
  • Linda Pollock, Scotland
  • Sylvester Toe, Liberia

“To be in a community where I got to hear so many different perspectives—that was profound for me. I’m grateful for the curiosity, for the practice of learning that was cultivated for me at Seminary.”
