En general, el objetivo del Instituto Engle es fomentar y fortalecer el oficio de quienes predican. El Engle en Español,  a través de talleres interactivos, seminarios, sesiones plenarias y conversaciones, examinará las realidades de la experiencia de la vida congregacional y comunitaria hispana y la manera en que la predicación puede ser aún más relevante. Esperamos que aquellos que participan en Reimaginar la Predicación dejen este programa con energía y apoyo renovados en su vocación de predicación.

Overall, the Engle Institute’s goal is to nurture and strengthen the craft of those who preach. The Spanish Engle, through interactive workshops, seminars, plenary, and conversation, will examine the realities of the Latinx congregational and community life experience and the manner by which preaching can become even more relevant. We hope that those who participate in Reimagining Preaching will leave this program with renewed energy and support in their preaching vocation.

Eric Barreto

Princeton Theological Seminary

Eric D. Barreto es el Profesor Asociado de Nuevo Testamento de Frederick y Margaret L. Weyerhaeuser en el Seminario Teológico de Princeton. Tiene una licenciatura en religión de la Oklahoma Baptist University, un MDiv del Seminario Teologico de Princeton y un doctorado en Nuevo Testamento de la Universidad de Emory. Antes de venir al Seminario de Princeton, se desempeñó como profesor asociado de Nuevo Testamento en el Seminario Teologico de Lutero, y también enseñó como profesor adjunto en la Escuela de Teología Candler y en la Escuela de Teología McAfee. Como ministro bautista, Barreto ha realizado estudios académicos por el bien de la iglesia, y escribe y enseña regularmente en comunidades religiosas de todo el país. Eric D. Barreto is the Frederick and Margaret L. Weyerhaeuser Associate Professor of New Testament. He holds a BA in religion from Oklahoma Baptist University, an MDiv from Princeton Seminary, and a PhD in New Testament from Emory University. Prior to coming to Princeton Seminary, he served as associate professor of New Testament at Luther Seminary, and also taught as an adjunct professor at the Candler School of Theology and McAfee School of Theology. 

As a Baptist minister, Barreto has pursued scholarship for the sake of the church, and he regularly writes for and teaches in faith communities around the country. He has also been a leader in the Hispanic Theological Initiative Consortium, a national, ecumenical, and inter-constitutional consortium comprised of some of the top seminaries, theological schools, and religion departments in the country. He is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature and the National Association of Baptist Professors of Religion. 

Alexandra Canales

Alexandra Zareth Canales es una ministra cristiana ordenada y capellán del personal de la red de Einstein Healthcare en Filadelfia, Pensilvania que se desempeña como miembro del trauma médico. Se graduó en la Universidad de St. Mary en San Antonio, Texas y en el Seminario Teológico de Princeton (M.Div.). Ella está terminando su PhD en terapia matrimonial y familiar en la Universidad de Eastern.

Alexandra Zareth Canales is an ordained Christian minister and Staff Chaplain for the Einstein Healthcare network in Philadelphia, PA serving as a member of the trauma medical. She is finishing her PhD in marriage and family therapy at Eastern University. She graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary and St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas.

Ruth-Aimee Belonni-Rosario Govens

Ruth-Aimée Belonni-Rosario Govens es la Directora de Gestión de Inscripción en el Seminario Teológico de Columbia en Decatur, GA. Anteriormente se desempeñó como Directora Asociada de Admisiones en el Seminario Teológico de Princeton y luego como Decana de Admisiones en el Seminario Teológico de Lancaster. Educada tanto en la Universidad de Puerto Rico como en el Seminario Teológico de Princeton, Belonni-Rosario es una Anciana Docente ordenado de la Iglesia Presbiteriana (EE. UU. A). Ella ha demostrado un fuerte compromiso con las voces de Latinx en la educación teológica y en el ministerio, así como en el apoyo a los estudiantes del seminario para discernir su llamado particular.

Ruth-Aimée Belonni-Rosario Govens is the Chief Enrollment Management Officer at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA. She served as Associate Director of Admissions at Princeton Theological Seminary and then as Dean of Admissions at Lancaster Theological Seminary. Educated both at the Universidad de Puerto Rico and Princeton Theological Seminary, Belonni-Rosario is an ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). She has demonstrated strong commitments to Latinx voices in theological education and ministry, as well as supporting seminary students to discern their particular call.

Ramon Orostizaga

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital

Ramon Orostizaga actualmente se desempeña como capellán de habla hispana en el Equipo de Cuidado Pastoral en la Universidad Robert Wood Johnson en Nueva Jersey. Como nativo de Chile S.A., completó su educación universitaria y teológica en su país de origen, donde también fue ordenado en 1996 como Ministro de Palabra y Sacramento en la Iglesia Presbiteriana Nacional de Chile. Se mudó a los Estados Unidos en 2001 y recibió una llamada de una congregación latina de la Iglesia Cristiana Reformada en América del Norte. Él ministró a esta congregación de habla hispana, cuya membresía estaba formada por personas de varios países de América Latina. Ramón se tomó un descanso del ministerio congregacional después de 10 años y entró en el Seminario Teológico de Princeton, donde obtuvo su MDiv y ThM.

Native of Chile S.A., Ramon completed his undergraduate and theological education in his home country, where he was also ordained in 1996 as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the National Presbyterian Church of Chile. He moved to the United States in 2001 and received a call from a Latino congregation of the Christian Reformed Church in North America. He ministered to this Spanish-speaking congregation, whose membership consisted of people from various countries of Latin America, and their cultures as well as dialects differed greatly. Ramon took a break from congregational ministry after 10 years and entered Princeton Theological Seminary, where he earned his MDiv and ThM degrees. He is currently the Spanish Speaking Chaplain on The Pastoral Care Team at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. He is married and a proud father of three daughters.

Danny Roman Gloro

Asbury Seminary

Danny Roman-Gloro es el director de la Iniciativa de Excelencia en la Predicación en el Seminario Teológico Asbury-Florida Dunnam Campus y un experimentado entrenador de habla y predicación. Es un candidato doctoral en Comunicación en la Universidad Regent y actualmente está trabajando en su disertación, que es un estudio etnográfico de la predicación en iglesias multiétnicas.

Danny Roman-Gloro is the director of the Excellence in Preaching Initiative at Asbury Theological Seminary-Florida Dunnam Campus. He is a PhD in Communication candidate at Regent University currently working on his dissertation which is an ethnographic study of preaching on multiethnic churches. He is also an experienced preaching and speech coach.

Damaris D. Whittaker

Fort Washington Collegiate Church

Damaris D. Whittaker es una ministra de la Iglesia de Cristo Unida (UCC) y un teóloga público profundamente apasionado por la justicia social. Aunque creció en la tradición Pentecostal, su viaje personal de fe ha sido diverso. Se graduó en el Seminario Teológico de Nueva York (DMin) y tiene experiencia en el manejo de las finanzas del ministerio, el aumento de la administración y la asesoría y orientación al personal de la iglesia. Ella tiene un estilo de predicación dirigido por el espíritu y dirige servicios de adoración que reflejan la diversidad cultural de sus congregaciones. Predica en inglés y español.

Rev. Dr. Damaris D. Whittaker is a United Church of Christ (UCC) minister. Although raised in the Pentecostal tradition, her personal faith journey has been diverse. She has a spirit-led style of preaching and leads worship services that are reflective of the cultural diversity of her congregations. She preaches in English and Spanish.

Rev. Whittaker is a public theologian deeply passionate about social justice advocating for racial justice, LGBTQ equality, immigration reform, women’s leadership, universal healthcare, and affordable housing. She is experienced in managing ministry finances, increasing stewardship, and providing mentorship and guidance to her staff. Rev. Whittaker believes she has been called to break down silos and sees intersectionality of faith as a place she can affect change. When not in church, she loves reading, dancing, gardening, kayaking and walking/jogging.

Rev. Whittaker is originally from Humacao, Puerto Rico and is married to Sabas Whittaker. She is excited about the ministry possibilities and potential of FWCC.
