Lincoln Scholar Visits Princeton Seminary to Talk about New Lincoln Biography
January 22, 2009–A new biography of Abraham Lincoln, written by established Lincoln historian and former faculty member at Princeton Theological Seminary Ronald C. White Jr., hits the shelves as President Barack Obama uses the Lincoln Bible to take the oath of office and just a month before the 200th anniversary of
Lincoln’s birth.
White will visit Princeton Seminary on Wednesday, February 4 as part of a national book tour, and will make a presentation and sign copies of A. Lincoln: A Biography from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Erdman Center, Center of Continuing Education, 20 Library Place, in Princeton.
The Economist calls White’s book “one of the most substantial new entrants” in the recent torrent of books on Lincoln. In the book, White chronicles Lincoln’s moral and intellectual evolution by analyzing his inaugural addresses and other major speeches. The book was published by Random House. White also wrote Lincoln’s Greatest Speech: The Second Inaugural, a 2002 volume published by Simon and Schuster about Lincoln’s second inaugural address.
The book signing and presentation are open to the public free of charge, with registration on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information or to register,
