Bruce McCormack to Deliver The T.F. Torrance Lectures at the University of St. Andrews December 3–6, 2007

Princeton, NJ, November 5, 2007–Dr. Bruce McCormack, Princeton Theological Seminary’s Frederick and Margaret Weyerhaeuser Professor of Systematic Theology, will deliver the T.F. Torrance Lectures at the University of St. Andrews in St. Andrews, Scotland, on Monday, December 3 through Wednesday, December 5.

The general theme of the lectureship is “The Humility of the Eternal Son: A Reformed Version of Kenotic Christology,” and the topics for the individual lectures are:

Lecture I: “Immutable in Impassibility: The Role Played by Classical Theism in Creating the Unresolved Problems in Chalcedonian Orthodoxy”

Lecture II: “Passibility in Mutability: The Failure of the Older Kenoticism”

Lecture III: “Immutable in Passibility: The Contribution of Karl Barth”

Lecture IV: “The Humility of the Eternal Son: Reformed Kenoticism, Trinity, and Election”

Founded in 1413, the University of St. Andrews is Scotland’s first university and the third oldest in the United Kingdom.

Princeton Theological Seminary was founded in 1812, the first seminary established by the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church.  It is the largest Presbyterian Seminary in the country, with more than 700 students in seven graduate degree programs.
