Princeton Seminary Honors Churches in Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York for Lifetime Giving

Princeton, NJ, September 10, 2007–Princeton Theological Seminary will honor thirty-three of its “Congregations in Partnership” at a luncheon on September 19. These congregations’ lifetime contributions have significantly supported the Seminary’s mission of preparing students studying to become ministers and leaders in the church and in Christian ministry throughout the world.

Before the luncheon, the recipients will attend the Seminary’s 2007–2008 academic year opening communion service at 10:00 a.m. in Miller Chapel.

At the luncheon, Mary Lee Fitzgerald, chair of the Seminary’s Board of Trustees, will present each church with a plaque displaying a photograph of Alexander Hall, which was the first building built in America for use as a Presbyterian seminary and whose cornerstone was laid in 1815. Iain R. Torrance, president of the Seminary, will give a presidential address. Rosemary C. Mitchell, CFRE, interim vice president for seminary relations, calls the support of congregations vital to the Seminary. “We are a seminary that has prepared preachers, teachers, and scholars for congregational ministries for nearly 200 years, and we naturally have a long and important partnership with these congregations,” said Mitchell. “Their commitment and generosity to theological education has been substantial, and we want to take this opportunity to thank each one of them.”
