The Abraham Kuyper Collection of Dutch Reformed Protestantism is one of the Special Collections housed in the Library of Princeton Theological Seminary. It focuses on the theology and history of Dutch Reformed Protestantism in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and includes many rare items. At the heart of the collection is one of the most complete collections of literature by and about Abraham Kuyper, including approximately 30,000 volumes from the library of the late Dutch historian, Dr. George Puchinger. This was acquired for Special Collections in 1999 through the generosity of Mr. Henry Luce III.

Visiting Scholar Scheme

Abraham Kuyper Visiting Scholarships are available to scholars from anywhere in the world, and at any stage of their career, to enable them to conduct research in the Kuyper Collection for periods of up to one month. They provide dedicated study space in the Seminary Library, financial assistance towards the cost of travel to Princeton, and lodging during the period of research. Visiting Scholarships are awarded by competition on the basis of a research proposal and the academic qualification of the applicant.

The closing dates for these awards are December 1st and June 1st each year for periods of research in the following academic year. The number of awards will be determined by the amount of money available. Awards will be made by the Advisory Board of the Kuyper Center, whose decisions are final.

Applicants should send the following information by email attachment to [email protected]

1. A statement of the research topic, its relevance to contemporary inquiry, and its appropriateness to the Kuyper Center Collection, and plans for related publication (if any). This statement should not exceed 500 words.

2. A program of study specifying dates.

3. A budget including travel costs, lodging and meals (based on accommodation at Erdman Hall). NOTE: awards are likely to cover only part of these costs.
