Princeton Seminary welcomes the Reverend Dr. John E. White
as the new dean of students and vice president for student relations, a
position he will begin on September 1, 2013. He comes to Princeton from his
current position as dean of students and vice president of student services at
Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia.
White is not new to Princeton. From 1992 to 2000 he was
pastor of Witherspoon Street Presbyterian Church in Princeton. He also
previously served as dean of students and vice president for student services at
Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.
Princeton Seminary president Craig Barnes is delighted to
welcome Dr. White to his administrative team. “John has a real heart for
students,” Barnes said. “He will bring energy and wisdom to our entire Seminary
A graduate of Pittsburgh Seminary with both the M.Div. and
D.Min. degrees, White has served the Presbyterian Church (USA) in many
capacities, including as vice moderator of Pittsburgh Presbytery.
Princeton Seminary, the first theological seminary founded
by the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA), has a student body of
more than 500 students in six degree programs. They come from 44 states in the
union and from 25 countries around the world.
The Reverend Dr. Catherine Cook Davis has been promoted to
associate dean of student life and director of student placement, also
effective September 1, 2013.
