    Biography Statement

Miguel H. Díaz is the University Professor of Faith and Culture. Prior to coming to the University of Dayton, he served as U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See in Rome, Italy from 2009 to 2012. Prior to that appointment, Dr. Díaz taught theology at the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, MN, and Saint John's University in Collegeville, MN. He was a board member of the Catholic Theological Society of America and is former president of the Academy of Catholic Hispanic Theologians of the United States. Dr. Díaz is not new to the University of Dayton. He served as an assistant professor of religious studies from 1996-1998. A prominent Catholic theologian, Dr. Díaz was the first Hispanic to represent the United States at the Vatican. Last fall he helped launch the Religion and Foreign Policy Working Group of the Secretary of State's Strategic Dialogue with Civil Society. This groundbreaking initiative facilitates regular engagement with communities of faith.
