    Biography Statement

    Dr. Nira received his Ph.D. from the Catholic University of America (CUA) in 2007; In 1987 his M.A. from CUA, and his B.A. in Religious Education from St. Edward’s University in 1982. He has been teaching at Our Lady of the Lake University, San Antonio, TX, since Spring 2001 and is currently chair of the Humanities and Social Sciences Department (including Religious Studies/Theology, Philosophy, History, Political Science and Mexican American Studies). He is an Assistant Professor up for promotion in 2013, and is currently in the final year of tenure track. His area of interests are in Mexican American Spirituality, Latino Theology, Interreligious Dialogue, and Church History. Dr. Nira serves on the Mission Concepcion Pastoral Council, one of the missions considered for World Heritage designation by UNESCO.
