    Biography Statement

    Hjamil A. Martinez-Vazquez was born in Puerto Rico and he holds a doctoral degree in religious history, with an specialization on religions in the Americas. He is the author of Latina/o y Musulman: The Construction of Latina/o Identity among Latina/o Muslims in the United States, published by Pickwick Publishers. He is looking forward to his second book Religious History from a Latina/o Perspective: New Methodologies in the Search for Memory by Baylor University Press. Dr. Martinez-Vazquez works in different areas within cultural studies, such as postcolonizing criticism, Latina feminist theories and critical race theories, among others. Presently, he lives with his wife and their son in Fort Worth, Texas.
