Princeton Seminary recently hosted a training seminar in the practice of scriptural reasoning, a practice of reading scripture in dialogue among the three Abrahamic traditions: Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Pictured above right is William Taylor of Cambridge University and one of the leaders of the training, with participants. David Ford and Daniel Hardy founded the Society for Scriptural Reasoning in 1994, and the practice has grown since then. Ford, Peter Ochs (who also took a leadership role at the Princeton training event), and Aref Nayed made presentations about scriptural reasoning during President Iain Torrance’s inauguration in March 2005. This special seminar was made possible with a gift from the F.I.S.H. Foundation. Photo by J.K. Brown, staff photographer, Leigh Photo and Imaging.

President Torrance was part of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s ecumenical gathering on Christian-Muslim engagement June 1–3. Read the report on the consultation, the document A Common Word, and the press release issued by the Seminary with Dr. Torrance’s comments.
