Conversations in World Religions in America

An Occasional Series Open to the Public

Held at the Erdman Center,
Princeton Theological Seminary's
Center of Continuing Education

Due to inclement weather in the greater Princeton area, the Seminary is closed on Monday March 2nd, postponing tonight's program.

The greater Princeton, New Jersey area is home to a number of people who follow different religions. How can an individual achieve a comfort, or a cultural competency, to better engage their neighbors of another religion?

A goal of these conversations is that participants will have a better knowledge of religions so they may faithfully, and more comfortably, ask better questions.

Facilitators of these conversations will be "leaders" from each religion. Recognizing that each broader tradition includes various interpretations (and that not all religions have "leaders"), the content to be covered will revolve around what is at stake in individual and communal life in America. For each religion, participants will learn about:

  • historical origins,
  • sacred writings,
  • central beliefs,
  • feasts and festivals (the religious calendar), and
  • faithful practices, as an individual and as part of a community.

Participants will be able to ask questions.

Each program will feature one speaker. The speakers will include:

Audience: Individuals looking for a better understanding of their neighbors.

Registration:

These conversations are open to the public at no cost. However, space is limited to a first come, first served basis.

Individuals may seek more information:

Individuals may also inquire by phone or e-mail (above) to be notified about the dates of additional events.
