Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrations
Herencia Lectures
The Herencia Lecture Series, celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15), enabled the larger community to discover and embrace the rich heritage of the Latina(o)/Latin American communities within our particular contexts, and provided opportunities for dialogue.

Monday, September 29, 2008: It’s more than just Spanish!: Theology and Praxis

Lecturer:  Dr. Ada Maria Isasi Diaz
A lecture exploring Teología en Conjunto beginning with a consideration of Latina/o ministry that would account for the wide variety of practices of the Latina/o church: languages, cultures, contexts, etc.

Wednesday, October 1, 2008: Politics of Assimilation: Latinas/os and the Sacred

Lecturer: Dr. David Abalos 
A colloquium helping us identify sociological customs and practices that limits the full expression of the Latino identity.

Tuesday, October 14, 2008: Who Are We?: A Pastoral Challenge

Lecturer:    Dr. Edwin David Aponte
A luncheon lecture recognizing the traditional modes of ministry that need to be reexamined in light of our changing contexts.
