Institute for Multicultural Ministry
July 21-25, 2008
Monday 8:30 a.m. through Friday 4:30 p.m.
Location: The Erdman Center - Princeton Theological Seminary's Center of Continuing Education
in collaboration with The Hispanic / Latino(a) Leadership Program In a post-modern, post-ideological, post-denominational, multicultural world, how do we “do church” that makes sense in this new century? How does a congregation engage in creative, future-oriented ministry while drawing from the major spiritual traditions of the early church; to be simultaneously rational, sacramental and pentecostal? How can pastors be re-oriented from institutional management to the kind of leadership that is daring, imaginative, prophetic, countercultural, yet peace-full? How do we lead our congregations to be high-risk, low-anxiety churches, to lead God’s people to confess who they are, to experience healing in intimate community, and to be a witness to Christ’s ministry of reconciliation in a world desperate for good news? The instructors of the Institute, as academics and practitioners, will share the theological framework and the experiential knowledge they have acquired in constructing vital congregations of many nations, cultures, languages, generations and denominational backgrounds. "In a time where we hear mere rhetoric within the church and society regarding issues of diversity and multiculturalism, the Institute for Multicultural Ministry developed through our Department of Continuing Education promises to provide substantive and cutting edge information that will enhance our abilities to be relevant in constantly changing communities."
The Reverend Victor Aloyo, Jr.
Director of Multicultural Relations
Department of Student Life
