6:30–8:30 p.m.
Location: Cooper Conference Room Instructions will be mailed to registered and wait-listed participants on Monday, April 30. In his latest book, The Future of Faith in American Politics: The Witness of the Evangelical Center David Gushee gives a reasoned reflection on how Evangelicals are confronting the major moral issues of our time. He presents a well-argued review of an “emerging evangelical center’s” political engagement. He surveys Evangelical thought on some of the biggest issues of our time—poverty, global warming and environmental degradation, terrorism, violence, racism, human trafficking, health care, and education. Gushee also provides an excellent taxonomy of the broad array of Evangelical political thought. David P. Gushee is Distinguished University Professor of Christian Ethics at McAfee School of Theology at Mercer University. He is the author of ten books, including Only Human (2005), Getting Marriage Right (2004), Righteous Gentiles of the Holocaust (2nd ed. 2003) and the award winning Kingdom Ethics (2002). Dr. Gushee is also the President of Evangelicals Against Torture. Audience: general public Books will be available for purchase the day of the event, and a book signing will follow.
