Adrienne M. and Charles Shelby Rooks Fellowship for Racial and Ethnic Theological Student Deadline: March 1
Rooks Fellowships provide annual grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 in support of the seminary education of racial and ethnic minority individuals who desire to be or are enrolled at a member school of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada and who are committed to serving the United Church of Christ. These fellowships are also open in support of doctoral study at accredited graduate schools by racial ethnicity minority students pursuing a scholarly and teaching vocation in the field of religion. Applicants must be members of a local church of the United Church of Christ. The Rooks Fellowships are available for full-time and part-time students and awards are renewable from year to year by application. Third World Theological Fellowship Deadline: January 1
Third World Theological Fellowships are available to members of the United Church of Christ and Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) who have completed two years of M.Div. study. Applicants must have local church and seminary recommendations and must be willing to interpret the experience in the seminary and in area churches. The award provides partial support for tuition, room and board, and roundtrip air travel. Crusades Scholarship Program Deadline: February 1
Crusade Scholarships are offered to racial/ethnic minority students who are United States citizens, or to international students who are residing in their home countries. Applicants must be full-time graduate students who are members of the United Methodist Church. Awards will be made for study in various fields for periods of up to three years. The Harkness Scholarship is available to women over 35 years of age who have received a B.A. or equivalent degree, are enrolled in an accredited school of theology, and are currently certified as candidates for ordained ministry as an Elder in the United Methodist Church. Theressa Hoover Community Service and Global Citizen Award Deadline: August 1
The Hoover Award is open to women, ages 21 to 35, who are members of the United Methodist Church, who demonstrate a concern for neighbors and community, and exhibit an awareness of the total nature of responsibilities in today's world. Jennings Randolph Program Peace Scholar Dissertation Fellowships Deadline: November 1
The United States Institute of Peace offers support for dissertation research through the Jennings Randolph Program for International Peace. These Peace Fellowships are intended encourage outstanding doctoral students to undertake dissertation research and writing on vital subjects that concern the sources and nature of violent international conflict and the full range of ways to end or prevent conflict and to sustain peace. Dissertation projects from a broad range of disciplines are welcome. Applicants may be citizens of any country who are doctoral students at a university in the United States and who have completed all requirements for the doctoral degree except dissertation by the time the fellowship begins. The stipend is $17,000 for a twelve-month period and may be conducted at the scholar's own university or any other appropriate site.

Myron J. Walker Scholarship Deadline: February 15
The Walker Scholarship is awarded to Iowa residents planning to pursue a career in the ministry or rabbinate, on the basis of overall fitness for the profession and financial need. Selection is made by the Trust Office of the US Bank, Iowa City, on the recommendation of the Department of Religious Studies. The award amount is variable and more than one scholarship can be awarded annually.

Application Deadlines: Plantinga and Crosson Fellowships: January 15, 2008; all others: March 3, 2008.
Five fellowships available: Alvin Plantinga ($50,000) awarded to a distinguished senior scholar; two postdoctoral fellowships ($30,000); Frederick J. Crosson fellowship ($40,000) reserved for foreign scholars and those outside the field of philosophy; and one visiting graduate fellowship ($16,000) awarded to a graduate student in philosophy who is worked on a dissertation in the philosophy of religion and who would profit from spending a year at the Center. Plantinga and postdoctoral fellows usually have the option of teaching one course in philosophy per semester. Those who teach receive an additional $6,675 annually.
