J. Hugh and Earle W. Fellows Memorial Fund Deadline: Open
The Fellows Memorial Fund will provide loans to students of theology whose beliefs are not in conflict with the basic beliefs of the Episcopal Church who are residents of Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, or Walton Counties in Northwest FL. The loan amount is determined by the needs of the applicant and based on the type of program and cost of education at the college the student will be attending. The loan repayment period begins following graduation requiring monthly payments and repayment within eleven years of graduation without exception. Interest begins the first day of the fifth month after graduation. The interest rates are established as follows: 2% for first nine months; 3% for the first full year; 4% for one year; 5% for one year; 8% for the next five years during which time principal and interest will be pain; and thereafter at a fixed rate of prime plus 2% at the beginning of the tenth year after graduation until fully paid.

Margaret and Charles E. Stewart Scholarship Fund Deadline: April 30
Full-time seminary students working toward the M.Div. and intending to serve in pastoral ministry in the black church of any Protestant denomination in the United States are eligible for assistance of $500 from the Stewart Scholarship Fund. Awards are not renewable. Applications are available after January 10.

P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund Deadline: December 15 (for eligibility form), January 31 (for application)
Grants of up to $6,000 are available to women from countries other than the United States and Canada to study in the US or Canada. Applicants must submit a statement upon completion of their degrees, they will return to their home countries to pursue professional careers. Applicants must be qualified for admission to full-time graduate study. The grants are renewable once and eligibility is based on financial need. Eligibility must be established before application material is sent. Eligibility forms are available in the website under "About P.E.O. And It's Projects."

The Office of Financial Aid for Studies of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) annually distributes over $2 million in grants, loans, and scholarships to undergraduate and graduate members of the Church to help make college and graduate work possible for students who have inadequate financial resources. Programs are based on financial need and assistance ordinarily is not given for overseas study. Please include a stamped, self-addressed #10 envelope with all requests for applications. Loan for Theological Studies Deadline: Open Theological students who are preparing for professional church occupations may be eligible for loans from this program. Applicants must be members of the PC(USA) who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents; enrolled full-time in a PC(USA) seminary or in a theological institution approved by the students' Committee on Preparation for Ministry; enrolled as an inquirer or candidate by a PC (USA) presbytery for a church occupation or planning to take a position within the PC(USA) or one of the ecumenical agencies in which it participates; be recommended by the financial aid officer at their theological institutions; and be in good academic standing. Inquirers may apply for up to $3,000 each academic year and may apply for the maximum loan amount of $9,000 in their final year of studies if they have not previously borrowed. Candidates may apply for up to $3,000 the first year, $5,000 the second year, and $7,000 the third academic year, and may apply for up to $15,000 in their final year of studies if they have not previously borrowed. Applicants attending a related theological institution should contact the Financial Aid Officer for information and applicants.
Native American Supplemental Grant Deadline: June 30
Scholarship assistance is available to Alaska natives and Native Americans in pursuit of a theological education who satisfy requirements in one of the following three categories: (1) enrolled as an inquirer or candidate by a PC(USA) presbytery and be preparing for a church occupation and be enrolled full-time in a theological institution approved by the students' Committee on Preparation for Ministry; (2) enrolled in a program of Theological Education by Extension (TEE) such as the NATEC, which is approved by a theological institution fully accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada; (3) an Inquirer, Candidate, Minister of the Word and Sacrament or member of the PC(USA) in other professional church occupation pursuing an approved program of continuing education. Award amounts vary depending on the availability of funds. Awards range from $500 to $1,000.
Presbyterian Study Grant Deadline: June 30
Presbyterian Study Grants are available to applicants who are enrolled in a PC(USA) seminary or in a theological institution approved by the students' Committee on Preparation for Ministry; studying M.Div. Or MACE degree and enrolled as an inquirer or candidate by a PC (USA) prior to application deadlines. Awards range from $200 to $2,000 per academic year and may be renewable. Students attending a related theological institution should contact the Financial Aid Officer for information and applicants.
Racial Ethnic Leadership Supplemental Grant Deadline: June 30
Racial Ethnic Leadership Supplemental Grants are available to African American, Alaska-Native, Asian American, Hispanic American, or Native American applicants who are enrolled full-time in a prescribed program of study approved by a presbytery, in a PC(USA) seminary or in a theological institution approved by the students' Committee on Preparation for Ministry; and enrolled as an inquirer or candidate by a PC(USA) presbytery for a church occupation, studying for the first professional degree, or planning to take a position within the PC(USA) or one of the ecumenical agencies in which it participates. Awards range from $500 to $ 1,500 per academic year and may be renewable. Applicants attending a related theological institution should contact the Financial Aid Officer for information and applications.
Continuing Education Grant and Loan Programs for Presbytery Church (USA) Members
The Presbyterian Church (USA) has merged two programs that have provided continuing education grants and loans PC (USA) professional staff engaged by congregations with 250 members or less, and the Fund for Graduate Education, which has provided grants to women and racial ethnic persons in doctoral studies who were preparing to teach in PC (USA) schools.
  • A PC (USA) minister or lay professional serving a congregation of 150 members or less for at least three years
  • Plan to attend a program of study that will lead to certification; course work at an accredited institution; or a national event sponsored by PC (USA).
  • Study, course work, or events must be approved by a church session, presbytery, or synod (National event attendees are required to demonstrate proof of registration).
OR
  • Be a PC (USA) church member enrolled in a PhD/StD/ThD/EdD program in religious studies. Preference will be given to women and racial ethnic applicants attending PC (USA) theological institutions, colleges/universities.

Small church pastors-no limit
Retired small church pastors- can apply every 2 years
Candidates in D.Min Program- max. of 3 years.

All PC (USA) church members and professional staff are eligible to apply for student loans. Postgraduate students are eligible to borrow $2,000.00 per year to a maximum of $6,000. The student must demonstrate financial reliability.

Higgins Scholarship Program Deadline: March 31
Funds are available from the Higgins Scholarship Program to assist persons preparing for church occupations at either the seminary or graduate levels. Applicants must be full-time degree students at the Master or Doctoral level. Preference will be given to students under care of the Presbytery of Chicago and to those attending McCormick Seminary. If additional funds are available, other PC (USA) candidates may be considered. Award amounts vary depending on financial, need and the recipient's plan of study.
