The Churches' Council on Theological Education in Canada supports education and training for ministry in church-related institutions and other agencies through grants, research, and literature. The Council is concerned with ecumenically-sponsored programs and denominational projects with ecumenical implications. Most grants support consultations on various aspects of theological education or provide seed money for experimental programs. Grant amounts range from $500 to $5,000. The Council makes grants to Canadian institutions only; grants are not made directly to individuals.

The program is open to U.S. doctoral candidates and scholars who have already earned their Ph.D. in fields of the humanities, social sciences, or allied natural sciences and with to conduct research of regional or trans-regional significance. Fellowships require scholars to conduct research in more than one country, at least one of which hosts a participating American overseas research center.
