A memorial service was held for Dr. W.J. Beeners on Saturday, October 27 at 10:00 a.m. in Miller Chapel. Randall Nichols, director of the D.Min. program and lecturer in theology and communication, gave the eulogy, available here in audio format. Dr. W.J. Beeners (B.D., 1948)

Dr. W.J. Beeners (B.D., 1948), Carl and Helen Egner Professor of Speech Emeritus, died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, June 26, 2007, in Madison, Wisconsin, after a brief illness. He taught speech at Princeton Theological Seminary for forty-seven years, retiring in 1991, and generations of PTS alumni/ae learned how to deliver effective sermons from him.

Dr. Beeners is survived by his wife, Hanneke Calmon-Beeners; children, Susan Beeners, Sally Beeners Tanis, Brian Beeners, and their spouses; stepdaughter, Grace Boekhoff-Falk and her spouse; stepson David Frank; grandchildren Bill Buckley, Corrine Beeners, Samuel Falk, and Abigail Falk; sister, Sophia Beeners Miller; and former wife Dorothy Presnell Beeners.

The family has indicated that memorial gifts may be made either to HospiceCare Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, Wisconsin 53711, or to Princeton Theological Seminary, P.O. Box 821, Princeton, New Jersey 08542-0803, for the scholarship fund established recently in honor of Dr. Beeners.
