The Erdman Art Gallery

The Erdman Art Gallery at Princeton Theological Seminary, located in the Center of Continuing Education’s Erdman Center, 20 Library Place, Princeton, New Jersey, is pleased to announce its 2008 exhibiting artists. The gallery is in its eighth year of operation and continues to display a wide variety of artwork by local and national visual artists. This year’s schedule offers a variety of exhibition media. Special thanks to Jennifer Concha for her expertise and help with the design and installation of the exhibits.

“Mi Vida en Guasmo: My Life in Guasmo”

Beginning April 14, and continuing through May 23, 2008, the Erdman Gallery presents “Mi Vida en Guasmo: My Life in Guasmo” featuring photographs taken by ten young people from a small barrio south of Guayaquil, Ecuador called Guasmo Sur. Princeton Seminary alumna Erin Dunigan taught the youth group in August 2007 as part of a project called “Photopiece,” which seeks to help teens get in touch with their individual stories and develop a visual vocabulary through the camera’s lens.

Erin Dunigan lived with her Ecuadorian hosts and worked along with the families to help the communities. She taught her students to depict their community using theories of composition and story in photography, and then exhibited their photographs at the community soccer field. The project was led by another Princeton Seminary alumna, Erica Smith Thompson, who has been taking teams from North America to Guasmo Sur for nine years.

There will be an Artist’s Reception on Monday, April 14 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Erdman Art Gallery.

Erdman Gallery admission, the exhibit, and the reception are free and open to the public.
