Reading the Gospel of John as Drama

Monday–Tuesday, November 6–7, 2006
Monday, 1:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.
Tuesday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Location: Erdman Hall, Cooper Conference Room

Like a great drama, the Gospel of John opens with a prologue that sets the stage for all that follows. This course will explore the whole of the dramatic story of Jesus in John’s Gospel, observing the Gospel’s most important emphases in a new light. In addition, the dramatic scenes within the community from which this Gospel emerged will be examined. Since John writes for believers of all time, for “those who have believed, even though they have not seen” the Lord, participants in this course will discern how contemporary believers come to live the drama of discipleship in the Gospel of John.

Seminar Leader: George Parsenios is assistant professor of New Testament at Princeton Theological Seminary and is currently writing his second book on the dramatic character of the Gospel of John.

Audience: Ministry professionals

Registration Fee:
