Processing a Minister’s Own Divorce
Wednesday–Friday, November 1–3, 2006

9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. all days
Location: Speer 203/204

The companion to “Counseling Others through Divorce,” this seminar explores insights into the hazards and disruptions pastors’ own divorce experiences create for themselves, their families, and their congregations; and it introduces a method for using pastoral divorce as a growth opportunity for the congregation. It examines the unique and widespread influences of a pastor’s own experience of divorce on other people who are facing, experiencing, or recovering from divorce. A realistic framework for interpretation of the meaning of marriage today will be provided.

Workshop Leader: Dr. J. Randall Nichols received both a Master of Divinity degree and a Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary, where he is director of the Doctor of Ministry program and a lecturer in theology and communication. He is on staff at the Trinity Counseling Center in Princeton, specializing in psychodynamic psychotherapy, and individuals and couples therapy. Dr. Nichols is also a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

Audience: Ministry professionals

Registration Fee: $30 Deposit (refundable upon completion of seminar)

This seminar, including room and board, is underwritten by Lilly Endowment, Inc., through the Sabbath Renewal Project for Pastoral Theological Excellence.

Also provided with the program are meals from Wednesday lunch through Friday lunch, and lodging for two nights. Participants will be reimbursed for modest travel expenses after the event.
