Counseling Others through Divorce
Monday–Tuesday, October 30–31, 2006

9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. both days
Location: Speer 203/204

This seminar addresses issues faced by ministers when confronted by those facing, experiencing, or recovering from divorce. A new theological look at divorce as a spiritual journey will be provided, as well as attention to an awareness of caregiving tools pastors can best use, roadblocks they can inadvertently create, and a realistic framework for interpreting the meaning of marriage today.

For insights into the dynamic and congregational implications of the pastor dealing with his/her own divorce, you may want to consider Dr. Nichols’s companion seminar “Processing a Minister’s Own Divorce,” November 1–3, 2006.

Workshop Leader: Dr. J. Randall Nichols received both a Master of Divinity degree and a Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary, where he is director of the Doctor of Ministry program and a lecturer in theology and communication. He is on staff at the Trinity Counseling Center in Princeton, specializing in psychodynamic psychotherapy, and individuals and couples therapy. Dr. Nichols is also a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
