DEPARTMENT OF THEOLOGY: Philosophy at PTS

Philosophy is taught at PTS as a free standing subject, but in a way intended to enable both M.Div and Ph.D students to engage critically and constructively at the intellectual frontiers of Christian belief and practice.

There is a special interest in the interface between religion, science and art, reflected in Dr. van Huyssteen's 2004 Gifford Lectures at the University of Edinburgh, Alone in the World?: Human Uniqueness in Science and Theology (published in 2006 by Wm Eerdmans, Grand Rapids/Cambridge) and Dr. Graham's 2005 Stanton Lectures at the University of Cambridge, Art and Re-enchantment (Oxford University Press, 2007).

The Center for the Study of Scottish Philosophy is one of three PTS research programs located with the Seminary library's Special Collections.
