Launched
with a Wabash Center grant, the Hebrew Learning Project creates resources
for effective teaching and learning of Biblical Hebrew. One focus has been the
creation of electronic resources (i.e., PowerPoint presentations) for presenting
and drilling grammatical concepts. The Project incorporates insights from second
language learning acquisition studies. For example, vocabulary materials build
on what the student already knows and introduces new items in context, through
the careful selection of actual biblical examples. Awareness of different
learning styles and the theory of multiple intelligences is reflected in audio
and visual elements. A website and companion CD-ROM are currently being refined
through their use here at Princeton Theological Seminary and at a number of
other institutions and will eventually be released to a wider audience.
