Henry Snyder Gehman Professor of Old Testament
Language and Literature. M.Div., Princeton Theological Seminary; Ph.D., Harvard
University. Seow's research and teaching interests include the history of
Israelite religion, Israelite wisdom literature, Northwest Semitic epigraphy,
and the history of biblical interpretation. His publications include Ecclesiastes
(AB, 1997), Kings (NIB, 1999), and Myth,
Drama, and the Politics of David's Dance (HSM, 1989). Seow serves on the
editorial boards of JBL, CBQ, the SBL Writings
in the Ancient World series, and the Abingdon Old Testament Commentary series.
He was the NEH Fellow at the Albright Insitute of Archaeological Research in
1986, recipient of the Mitchell Dahood Prize in 1989, the Henry Winters Luce III
Fellow in Theology and was admitted as a member of the Institute of Advanced
