His teaching interests are in Early Judaism and Christian Origins, with
special attention to Jesus Research, the Gospel of John, the Apocalypse of
John, Judaism and Christianity today, and the New Testament and sociology.
Chalesworth is editor of The Old
Testament Pseudepigrapha and The
Dead Sea Scrolls: Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek Texts with English Translation.
He has written and edited numerous books and his work has been recognized with
honors from many countries (including the first Frank More Cross Publications
Award). He has been Lady Davis Professor in the Hebrew University, Alexander
von Humboldt Fellow, and Annual Professor of the Albright Institute. He serves
on the Steering Committee of the American School of Classical Studies in
Athens and for over 25 years has helped convene sessions of the Studiorum Novi
